MAG Box IPTV Portal Setup for Canadian Subscribers
MAG boxes remain popular with subscribers who want a dedicated set-top experience with no Android layer. Setup is MAC-based: the box's hardware MAC is registered against your portal, the URL is typed once, and the device boots straight into live TV from then on.
Before you start
Find the MAC address on the sticker underneath the box, or in Settings → System Settings → About. It starts with 00:1A:79.
MAG hardware is 1080p on older models; the 524, 540 and 544 handle 4K. Match your expectations to the model before buying.
Send the MAC to us before you start — the portal must exist on our side before the box can load anything.
Step-by-step: MAG box (254 / 322 / 524 / 540 / 544)
Step 1.Boot to the settings menu
Power the box, then press the Setup or Menu button on the remote to reach System Settings.
Step 2.Open the servers menu
Go to System Settings → Servers → Portals.
Step 3.Enter the portal
Set Portal 1 name to anything memorable, then type the Portal URL we supplied exactly, including http:// and the port.
Step 4.Save and reboot
Press OK to save, exit the menu and reboot the box. It reloads against the portal on startup.
Step 5.Verify playback
Open a Canadian sports channel to confirm the stream and check that the EPG has populated.
Step 6.Set video output
System Settings → Video → choose the resolution your TV supports natively (1080p60 for most MAG models) rather than Auto.
Tips that make a real difference
- MAG boxes prefer a wired connection; the optional USB Wi-Fi dongles are the weakest link in the chain.
- Write the portal URL on a label under the box — it saves time after a firmware reset.
- Firmware updates occasionally clear the portal. Re-enter it rather than assuming the subscription failed.
Troubleshooting
Box shows 'Portal not available'
Check for a typo in the URL and confirm the MAC we registered matches the sticker exactly.
Loading screen hangs at 0%
The box has no DNS. Set DNS manually to 1.1.1.1 in network settings and reboot.
Picture stutters on HD channels
Older MAG models struggle with high-bitrate feeds. Ask us for the HD rather than the UHD variant of the channel.

Which MAG model should I buy?
For 4K, the MAG 540 or 544. The 254 and 322 are 1080p only and are best kept for secondary televisions.
Can I move the box to another house?
Yes. The portal is tied to the MAC, not the address, so it works on any internet connection.
